The artists' town of Kalbe is an innovative project in the rural area of the Altmark, which uses art and culture to promote sustainable urban and regional development.

The 12th International Winter Campus of the City of Artists Kalbe will take place from 23.02.-22.03.2026. Once again, artists from all artistic disciplines (visual arts, literature, music, photography, performing arts, film or other interdisciplinary projects) are invited to apply for a scholarship by January 17, 2026. National and international artists will meet for 30 days in the small town of Kalbe in the north of Saxony-Anhalt to work on their projects.

The scholarship includes:

• free accommodation,
• plenty of space to work
• for artists traveling directly from abroad - a small travel and visa fee subsidy.

The stay is freely selectable between 2-4 weeks. Interdisciplinary exchange, exceptional working spaces and the connection to the local people are essential elements of the scholarship. The projects can also have a direct connection to the city or the local population, but this is not a prerequisite for a successful application.
In weekly, open studio tours, the scholarship holders give interested parties an insight into their work. It is also possible to present your work in the form of readings, performances, concerts or workshops during your stay.
